SANTIGOLD X VANS

Straight out of Brooklyn, Santi White, better known today as Santigold, has become a unique and inspiring figure on today’s musical landscape. Santigold’s 2008 eponymous album established her internationally as one of the most exciting and fearless artists to emerge in the last decade. The album was widely praised for its genre-defying sound and instantly memorable melodies and was on best of 2008 top 10 lists across the globe. Many artists championed the album and collaborated with her including Jay-Z, David Byrne, Major Lazer, Beastie Boys and others. She is currently at work on her highly anticipated new album due out in 2011.

With her eclectic sound, incredible sense of style and love for Vans, it was too good to be true when Vans and Santigold joined forces for a special February 2011 shoe release. Santigold teamed up with Vans designers to create a shoe of her very own. Working with the new Tosha Hi silhouette and Santi’s personal design aesthetic, the limited Vans x Santigold collaboration features premium perforated full grain leather, faux gold chain accents. The look becomes complete with a custom SG gold pin created with the trained eye of jewelery designer Jules Kim of Bijules.

The Vans x Santigold Tosha Hi begins shipping to stores February 1, 2011.

Tagür – Customers Custom Kicks

Tagür is a unique independent footwear and apparel company based out of Southern California that’s really focused on creating with the consumers themselves. Artists can buy blank version of their sneaker, customize it, then have the opportunity to have their design turned in to a production model. In the past Tagür has collaborated with graffiti artist legends Cope2 and Phase 2. We thought this was interesting. Always have been a big fan of custom kicks.

"AKA Black Laser" by Cope 2

“100% of our products are created by the customers we covet. We provide a stage where artists submit designs and the free market dictates which pieces we should invest in, to develop into retail products.”

Here’s how it works:
1. Buy a pair of the AKA Blanks at www.tagur.com
2. “Tagem” (customize the shoes or tag them) and send us pics to info@tagur.com
3. If Tagür like’s what they see they’ll place them in one of their custom sneaker events. If there is a significant interest about a custom design, they’ll invest in the artist and make the design a production model.
