Declaime aka Dudley Perkins ~ FONK

“Fame”

Declaime aka Dudley Perkins is preparing to release his latest solo album, tittled FONK. This albums sound has been inspired by the west coast G-Funk hip-hop as well as the whole Roger Zapp and Funkadelic sound that inspired it.

“I wanted to keep it to my heritage of West Coast funk,” says Declaime. “A lot of us west coast underground artists tend to go to the east coast feel ’cause it’s an innovative boom-bap sound. So my crew – Souls Of Mischief; The Pharcyde; Planet Asia – did that. But we actually grew up listening to MC Eiht, E-40, Dre, Snoop, Ice Cube, Too Short, DJ Quik, NWA – music that had a Zapp, Parliment Funkadelic feel to it.”

This change in sounds returing Declaime to his inspirational roots will be a step forward in time, marking a new future as his new persona Declaime, and leaving Dudley Perkins behind. FONK will be available on vinyl, CD, and digitally on May 4th via his own record label, SomeOthaShip Connect. If you haven’t checked out his latest release with his label co-owner, Georgia Anne Muldrow,  make sure to do so.
